Becalmed in thy Heart

I spent long on thee
Watching thy ways
Seeking some sense
In thy shaded paths
Seeking substance
Yet finding only mist.
Then shattered calm
As lightning from high
I saw motive in thy song
And meaning in thy tune.
I know all of thy truth now
But my tongue is a knot
For I have slipped into thee
Becalmed in thy shadows
Content in thy sweet shade
Never more to come forth
From thy deepest heart.

  1. I can’t say anything that the others haven’t told you already Robert! Stunning…I have read it twice already and both times there was a calm in the depth of my heart… πŸ™‚

    • You can’t see me, but I’m taking a big breath now and wondering what to say to you. This poem seems to have touched people. I wish I could understand why this is (and then bottle it before it escapes). Thank you so much, Aishwarya – you are kind. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so very much.
I just had a stupid thought.
I thought ‘hah, this piece only seems soul-soothing and serene because it contains the words “becalmed in thy heart”‘ but then I had a more intelligent thought.
      I thought ‘well duh!’
To be more exact, I realised that the very essence of writing is words and the feelings and emotions that they evoke.
To that end – thank you for letting me know that I have stumbled on a combination of words that have evoked such feelings in you. Like you, I hope to stumble on more such combinations. πŸ™‚

      • It is not just the words that evoke emotions in the heart of the person reading it, but the sentiments one carries while writing such overwhelming

  2. It is not just about the words that evoke emotions in the heart of the person reading it, but the sentiments one carries while writing such an overwhelming stuff.Only a human being so thoughtful, and grounded can write and express one’s heart out so beautifully and explicitly

    • I just tried to do just that, and it’s very well written and easy to understand, but sociology is not something that I have a lot of interest in. If I were fascinated by this subject, then this would be the site for me to visit again and again though. Maybe something for the future?
I did try to make a meaningful comment – not sure if I succeeded. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)Something about this one seems to have captured the imagination. I just wish I knew what it was. I guess I should give thanks to the One who really inspires these things.
I hope you’re having a beautiful day and that it continues to be so. πŸ™‚
